Another piece of info, if you could try changing the "config" file in Contents/Resources/Preferences GLSL to "Y" along with FBOBackBuffer to "Y" AFTER trying it the normal way. If you change these values remember to delete the other "config" file in User/Library/Application Support/Grand Theft Auto IV/ before launching the game. Please compare FPS and if it does anything else and report back. Thanks! 

Notes: 

The games textures seem to be blurred for the initial couple minutes of gameplay (could be beacause of my weak laptop), but after that everything is OK.
